Government Removes Route Permits for Public Vehicles during the Festive Season

October 10: The Department of Transport Management has suspended route permits for public vehicles to facilitate passengers during the festive season.

With the onset of Dashan, the main festival of Nepal, and Tihar also approaching, the department has eased the route permits to make the travel of passengers safe and comfortable.

With the suspension of the route permits, any public vehicle will be able to go anywhere in the country without a permit. This will ensure that the vehicle do not need to go through the hassles to get a permit to take the passenger to and from the destination.

This is expected to facilitate the mass exodus of people from Kathmandu to their hometowns and villages to celebrate the festivals.

Advance ticket booking for public transport was opened on September 25 while the traffic police have set up help desks at various places to help commuters.
