160 Climbers get Permits to Climb Mt Manaslu   

September 8: Mountaineers have shown enthusiasm to climb Mount Manaslu during the upcoming autumn season. According to the state-owned national news agency RSS, the Department of Tourism has granted permission to 160 climbers of 16 expedition teams to climb the 8,163-metre high Mt Manaslu.    
Similarly, the department informed that one group has taken permission to climb Mt Kanchanjangha as of September 6.

Mt Kanchanjangha is 8,586 meters tall and the third highest mountain in the world. The department has collected royalty of Rs 3.146 million from the expedition team.

Autumn is considered the best season for climbing mountains. A remarkable number of domestic and foreign mountaineers used to climb mountains in this season before the onset of Covid-19. Domestic and foreign climbers have acquired permission to climb mountains in this season despite the risk of COVID-19 pandemic.    
A significant number of tourists including some distinguished foreign guests had climbed the mountains during the COVID-19 pandemic last year too, according to the Department.
