Smart Telecom gets Six more Months to Clear its Arrears

July 19: The government has extended the deadline for Smart Telecom to clear its arrears. The private telecommunication company has been given six months to clear its arrears worth over Rs 6 billion as per the cabinet decision on July 14.
The earlier deadline for the company to clear its arrears was July 15, 2021, according to the state-owned national news agency (RSS).

Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has already received a letter in this regard, confirmed Santosh Paudel, spokesperson for NTA.

With the extension of the deadline, Paudel said that the company has to submit its progress report to the NTA every month.
NTA has to carry out the analysis of the financial status of Smart Telecom on the basis of the details submitted by the company within mid-November and submit it to the concerned ministry.
According to RSS, the company has not paid its dues in various topics to the government since four years.
