AAN Opposes Formation of Advertisement Board

July 7: The Advertising Association Nepal (AAN) has protested against the formation of the Advertisement Board by the government. AAN accused the government of forming the board against the spirit of the advertising business.

AAN said that the government has introduced controversial clause in an attempt to bring all government advertisements under a one-door system in the name of social welfare advertisements. AAN further said that the government’s act reflects the move taken in the past by the royal regime.

Therefore, AAN has tried to draw the attention of all stakeholders towards the problems that may occur in future if the regulatory body tries to present itself as an ad distributor.

AAN has demanded the government to include the advertisement sector in the board.

AAN has accused the government of disregarding its suggestions and advice even though it has been cooperating with the ministry since the drafting of the Advertising Regulation Act, 2076 BS.

AAN has also drawn the attention of the government and the Advertising Board to resolve the existing problems at the earliest. It has also warned of repercussions if the board does not take any initiative to resolve the problem.
