Monsoon Unlikely to Weaken Soon: Meteorologist

June 20: Meteorologists have warned that the monsoon that has become active since the last few days will not be weakening immediately.

According to meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Shanti Kandel, the monsoon is not likely to weaken anytime soon since it has become active from the very beginning this year.    
"The influence of monsoon will remain for still some more days. Therefore, the trend of rainfall will continue for few more days," the state owned national news agency RSS quoted Kandel as saying.    
According to RSS, meteorologist Kandel said that the impact of the monsoon wind will however weaken after some days. It has been raining continuously due to the monsoon that has become active three days before the usual date this year.    
The Department of Meteorology said the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with light rainfall and possibility of thunder on Sunday (today) and Monday (June 21).
