UN Association of Nepal Launches Book Consisting Articles of 25 Eminent Personalities

April 24: The UN Association of Nepal organized a book launch programme at Hotel Yellow Pagoda, Kathmandu, on April 22.

The book entitled ‘Nepal’s Foreign Policy and United Nations’ consisting of 25 articles by eminent personalities like foreign secretary, former foreign secretaries, former ambassadors, academics and intellectuals was launched by Nepal’s Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

The programme was chaired by Associate Professor Dambar Bir Thapa, president of the association.

According to a statement issued by the association, its Co-President Radhesh Pant delivered the welcome speech, while Professor Dr Mohan P Lohani, a former ambassador, thanked the contributors for their cooperation in making the publication possible on time.

Dr Nishchal Nath Pandey, director of Center for South Asian Studies, reviewed the book and congratulated the association for bringing out the book to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the UN and the 65th anniversary of Nepal’s UN membership.

Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal highlighted the salient features of Nepal’s foreign policy and lauded the UN for its role in dealing with issues pertaining to sustainable development, climate change and financing for development, among others.

According to the association, Chief Guest Foreign Minister Gyawali distributed certificates of appreciation to the contributors.
