Public Transport to Resume after Mid-September

August 31: The government has decided to allow the operation of public vehicles only after mid-September.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Sunday (August 30) decided to allow public vehicles to operate along short, medium and long-routes after September 17.

Earlier, the government had said it would allow public vehicles to resume operation from August 31. However, the rapid rise in number of coronavirus forced the government to review the decision.

The government on Sunday confirmed over 1221 new cases of coronavirus across the country, including a record-high 429 cases in the Kathmandu Valley.

Meanwhile, reopening of educational institutions including schools and colleges, holding examinations and conducting sports training will be allowed only after September 17.

The government has also decided to resume inter-district transportation service and domestic flights only after mid-September.
