High Court Clears Way for Bhatta to Assume office at IBN

August 17: Patan High Court has cleared the hurdle for newly-appointed CEO of Investment Board Nepal (IBN), Sushil Bhatta, to assume his responsibilities.

After a preliminary hearing on Sunday (August 16), a division bench of high court judges Thakur Prasad Sharma and Ishwar Raj Acharya decided not to give continuity to interim order issued earlier to bar Bhatta from assuming office in capacity of the CEO of Investment Board.

Bhatta can now start regular work at the board. He was appointed CEO of the board on August 5.

Information Officer at the high court, Dhruva Subedi, informed that high court judges Sharma and Acharya decided not to give continuity to the interim order issued by a single bench of chief judge Nahakul Subedi ordering the government not to implement its decision to appoint Bhatta as CEO of the board until the next hearing on August 16.

Advocate Jaya Bahadur Bhujel had filed a writ petition on August 10 challenging the appointment of Bhatta as the CEO of Investment Board. Bhujel argued that Bhatta lacks the experience required to be appointed as the CEO of investment board.
