January 22: Standard Chartered Bank created the event “Red for a Day” to mark the tenth anniversary of its partnership with the Liverpool Football Club (LFC).
For the event, the bank encouraged its employees worldwide to wear red clothing on January 16, 2020. It was part of a wider competition where the winner would win a trip to watch LFC play live at Anfield, the club’s home ground.
The bank also hosted a LFC Quiz Contest where the winners won LFC jerseys and other branded merchandise. There was also a fundraiser penalty shoot-out competition where more than a 100 employees participated. All the proceeds from the game went to “Future-makers by Standard Chartered”, the bank’s sustainability program.
The bank renewed its sponsorship contract with LFC in 2018 meaning that the partnership will now last till 2022/23.
