Government Facing Mounting Challenges for Resource Management

April 16: The government has decided to utilize the funds allocated under various headings to combat the current crisis of coronavirus pandemic.

The government decided to mobilize internal resources as revenue collection has been shrinking due to the lockdown, which has created mounting challenges for resource management.

In order to prevent the scarcity of resources, the government is preparing to utilize a budget of Rs 16 billion allocated for Nepal Telecom, Rs 3 billion for New Nepal Construction Fund and Disaster Relief Fund respectively.

Deepak Subedi, secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology informed New Business Age that the Minister for Finance presented a proposal of utilizing various funds to the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Minister for Finance Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada during the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, made such proposal  due to the shrinking revenue collection.

"However, a decision on the proposal has been delayed because the chief secretary is yet to approve it. The media will be informed about the decision by tomorrow (Thursday)," Subedi said.
