Government to Announce Relief Package for People with Low Income

March 29: The government is preparing to announce relief package especially for labourers after the lockdown started taking toll on their livelihood.

According to the Ministry of Finance, such package will be presented in the next cabinet meeting. The ministry informed that it is all set to announce special package for the workers involved in tourism, industries and construction sectors which have been the most affected by the impact of coronavirus pandemic.

The finance ministry is preparing to announce the special package in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, said Labour Minister Rameshwar Raya Yadav.

According to the minister, his ministry has already requested the finance ministry to announce relief package targeting people with low income.

“The government is sensitive toward the hardship faced by people earning minimum wages. We have already identified those who are struggling to make their ends meet and informed the finance ministry about their problems,” said Minister Yadav.

“The Council of Ministers will take a decision within two to three days,” he told New Business Age on Saturday.

A high-ranking official at the finance ministry confirmed that the government was planning to announce relief package for labourers but did not reveal anything about the nature of the package.
