Government to Resume Trade with China

March 26: The government has decided to open the border points with China to ease the flow of goods between the two countries.

A meeting of the high-level committee to prevent coronavirus on Wednesday (March 25) decided to open the customs points in the northern frontier to facilitate import and export of goods.

The border with China has remained closed since the last two months. The main customs points between Nepal and China had been closed after China reported increase in cases of coronavirus in late January. Nepal-bound goods had remained stuck across the border due to the closure.

With the latest decision to open the border points, the customs offices of Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani will now resume trade between the two countries. However, the authorities concerned have been strictly ordered to follow the health protocol.

The council of ministers had decided on Monday to close the international borders of Nepal but the decision was aimed at curbing the movement of people.
