Nepal has Good Prospects of Selling Onions to Bangladesh

February 23: Bangladesh imported onions worth US$ 57.3 million (Rs 6.53 billion) in 2018, according to ITC Trademap.

Bangladesh mainly imports onion from India. Nepal can supply onions to Bangladesh to meet its demand worth Rs 6.53 billion if the eastern plains of the country are developed into onion farms with assurance of export facility. For this, the government needs to encourage the farmers, provide them with grant and waive tax for a certain period. The government must also give quality assurance and then sign B2B and G2G agreements with Bangladesh.
