Nepali Industries Under Pressure due to Implementation of Many Laws at a Time: CNI

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has said that the Nepalese industries are under immense pressure due to the implementation of many laws at once. The CNI claimed that although the investment-friendly laws would be beneficial in the long run, their implementation at once has created pressure for the industries right now.

A delegation of CNI said so to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a meeting on Monday. The delegation also told the prime minister that the environment for investment has shrunk at present. In response, PM Oli said he is effortful to resolve the problems seen in the industrial sector.

The prime minister also told the visiting delegation that the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping has opened new avenues for investment in Nepal.

Meanwhile, CNI President Satish Kumar Moore told PM Oli that the arrest of industrialists for minor faults has discouraged them to a great extent.

Likewise, CNI also urged the prime minister to form a high-level committee to address the problems in implementing the new laws.

Immediate past president of CNI Hari Bhakta Sharma said that the government’s decision to transfer its staff within a short span has had negative impact on the business community. He said that the frequent transfers not only cause delay in decision making process but they have to face new officials with entirely different mindset to deal with.
