Labour Minister urges Employers to Ensure Minimum Wage for Workers

September 25: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista has urged employers to ensure minimum wage for every worker to ensure that they can sustain their living.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) Asia Pacific Conference on Tuesday, Minister Bista said that every worker should also be ensured of social security.

H Manadevan, deputy general secretary of WFTU and in charge of Asia Pacific region, said that the WFTU has been always fighting against the exploitation of labourers. He added that WFTU is heading forward for the fulfillment of the basic needs including food, housing, education, medicine, fresh drinking water including employment and social security of the workers. 

Altogether more than 200 delegates from 12 countries are attending the conference which will conclude today (September 25). The conference is being held with the slogan "ensure basic needs and social security of working class people”.
