VNY Secretariat Launches Official Website, News Portal and Social Sites for VNY 2020

September 20: The Visit Nepal Secretariat has launched the website, online news portal and various social sites for the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign amid an official event on Wednesday, September 18.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTA) Yogesh Bhattarai together with secretary at MoCTA  Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Governor of Province 3 Anuradha Koirala, industrialist Suraj Vaidya, national coordinator  of VNY 2020 Yogendra Shakya, Miss Nepal 2019 Anushka Shrestha, ultra trail runner Mira Rai  launched six various digital platforms of Visit Nepal 2020 at Hotel Soaltee on Wednesday. 

During the launching ceremony, Minister Bhattarai informed that the government along with Nepal Tourism Board and Visit Nepal 2020 Secretariat are working effectively to make the VNY year successful and requested every tourism entrepreneur to use the digital platform to promote tourism of Nepal.

“I also request tourism entrepreneurs as well as the public to follow the digital platform to be updated about the tourism activities and progress of VNY year,” he said.

We will update the digital platform with all the tourism related information as well as circulate messages of leaders and various tourism related national and international personalities, the minister added.

Likewise, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, secretary of MoCTA, informed that the VNY 2020 is only three months away and the launch of the official website, news portal and social sites will add extra mileage to the marketing promotional activities of VNY 2020.

The tourism secretary additionally suggested the VNY Secretariat to conduct various video completions and award prizes to best tourism video makers. Such initiation can be crucial in tourism promotion, the secretary added.

The government of Nepal is observing 2020 as a Visit Nepal Year with a goal to receive 2 million tourists arrival to contribute to 5 percent of the total GDP from tourism and to increase the collection of foreign exchange to 8 percent. It also aims to increase the length of tourists’ stay in Nepal to 15 days and per day spending of tourist to 65 USD.

Currently, the average length of tourists’ stay in Nepal stands at 12.3 days and per day spending is 52 dollars. Tourism contributes two percent of the total GDP of the country.

The VNY Secretariat launched two websites www.visitnepal2020.com and www.visitnepal2020.gov.np, news portal www.visitnepalnews.gov.np and social sites handles Facebook @nepallifexperiences, Instagram @visitnepalyear2020_official, Twitter @vny20200fficial and LinkedIn @visitnepal2020-secretariat during the occasion.
