August 30: ‘Buwa’, a short film by Kamal Subedi and his team, has won the first prize in the Ncell Short Film Competition organized by Ncell Pvt Ltd.
According to a press statement issued by the company, the competition was launched in the first week of August and received more than 70 entries from all over Nepal, with the judges selecting 10 best films. The panel of judges consisted of the founder of QFX Cinema, producer Nakim Uddin, filmmaker Asif Shah, and journalist Bidhya Chapagain.
In its press statement, the company informed that ‘Buwa’ by Kamal Subedi and his team won the first prize and were awarded Rs 100,000 as cash prize and 10 GB data for free to three team members of the group for 12 months. His team will also get a chance to experience shooting with filmmaker Shah.
The second prize was awarded to ‘The End of Culture’ a film by Bishal Neupane and his team. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and 10 GB data for free to three team members for 12 months.
Similarly, The Next Level Production’s ‘Old Age Home’ reportedly won the second runner-up prize. They were awarded Rs 50,000 as cash prize and 10 GB data were given to three members of the team for free for 12 months.
