November 18: Multinational company Surya Nepal has become the highest tax payer for the third time. Likewise, Siddhartha Shumsher Rana was the highest taxpayer under the individual category for the last fiscal year. Rana, who has hotel, trekking and various other businesses, has been the highest tax payer for the past five years.
Surya Nepal and Rana were honoured by the Inland Revenue Department on the occasion of the 7th National Tax Day on Saturday.
Finance Minister Dr Yuvraj Khatiwada honoured the taxpayers in various 15 categories.
The government said that the highest taxpayers were honoured to promote taxpaying culture.
Others companies to be honored during the programme are Dabur Nepal, Himal Power Ltd, Agriculture and Livestock Probiotic Industry, the Chhimek Cooperatives, Nabil Bank, Nepal Punarbeema (Re-Insurance) Company, Nobel Medical College, F1 Soft Information and Taragaon Regency Hotel.
