Planet Nepal aims to Beat Plastic Pollution

November 15: Alliance Française de Katmandou is all set to organize the fifth edition of “Planet Nepal” to raise awareness about environmental issues.

Issuing a press statement, Alliance Française said that the event will held at the Lalitpur Metropolitan Office on November 24, Saturday.

The event aims to eradicate the overuse of plastic products and the pollution that comes with it.

“The world has become too reliant on disposable plastics. Over 1 million plastic drinking bottles are purchased every minute. Almost one third of the plastic materials we use end up polluting or clogging the streets and our natural environment,” the statement said.

Planet Nepal will use art in different forms to spread awareness about changing environmental condition in Nepal as well as around the world. It aims to create both an international and Nepalese community proactively engaging on this topic through artistic activities, the statement further said.

The event will also feature panel discussions on ‘Waste and its potential uses’, ‘Impact of waste on our health’, ‘How to make Nepal greener?’ and ‘ How can it benefit the population?’

There will also be live music performance by Kutumba band as well as theatre art performance.

Other attractions of the event includes photo contest, art exhibition, and  workshop on waste management .
