September 18: Chinese smartphone brand OPPO has claimed to have introduced a breakthrough technology with the use of VOOC flash charge technology. The company said in a statement that the new technology can charge up to 75 percent of a typical 3,000mAh battery within just 30 minutes.

According to the company, the recently launched OPPO F9 provides 2 hours of talk time for just 5 minute of charging.

“Battery life now is being considered as one of the most vital aspect of smartphones,” the company said in a statement.

The company claimed that the VOOC technology has been independently researched and developed by OPPO.

According to the company, VOOC applies a 5V low voltage charging mechanism but increases the current to 4A to offer a higher power output. The technology gives four times faster charging speed than the conventional charger.

In order to dispel doubts about safety concern, the company said that the technology has five layers of protection and adaptor, which lessen the problem of overheating.
