Global IME Bank rolls out EMV Chip Cards

December 2: Global IME Bank has become the 100% EMV Cards Complaint Bank to issue different types of domestic and international cards as ‘Security and Risk Mitigation Measures for Card Present and Electronic Payment Transactions’. Issuing a press statement, the bank informed that the latest offering will allow consumers to transact securely at ATM, POS Terminals and most importantly would contribute towards making the Nepali payment domain more secure.

According to the statement, EMV Cards will make card based transactions more secure which, in turn, will give a boost to the cashless transaction system in Nepal.

"The bank has always been extremely cautious on the security aspect of the electronic transactions. Earlier, it had introduced forceful PIN change system into the card system to give confidence to the card holders. Now with the EMV chip Cards, the bank is likely to enhance its “The Bank for All” image amongst the customers. The bank’s effort has always been to provide its customer a secure and safe electronic payment medium for their everyday purchases and transactions," reads the statement.
