Preparations for 14th Chitwan Festival Begins

November 20: Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has started preparation to organise the 14th edition of Chitwan Festival in the district. With the aim of promoting local products, the festival is going to be held at the Narayani riverside exhibition ground from January 9 to 18.

The chamber informed about the preparations for ground management and stall booking for Chitwan Festival, which is one of the biggest festivals organized every two years in Nepal.

Chun Narayan Shrestha, president of the federation said that there will be around 500 stalls in this festival. Shrestha said that he believes the festival will make the economic activities of the country sustainable and provide relief to businessmen.

Shrestha said that this year's festival will focus on tourism promotion stating, “Tourism touches every economic sector. After Covid-19 pandemic, the message that Chitwan is safe for tourism will also spread.”

He said that due to the decrease in domestic and foreign tourists in Chitwan after Covid-19, stakeholders have given priority to revive the tourism sector. He said that the publicity for the festival will be done after the election.

Nil Bahadur KC, a member of the organizing committee, said that stall booking started from November 17. According to him, 175 stalls have been booked as of last Friday. The stalls of agriculture, education, health and tourism will be given priority in the festival which will commence with the main slogan of 'Land of Diversity'.

Apart from this, there will be stalls for information technology, automobile, hotel, restaurant, fancy stalls etc. KC said that the products made in Nepal and Chitwan will be promoted more at the stalls. He added that a 20 percent discount has been given for booking stalls for the members of the chamber, which is looking for sponsors and co-sponsors to complete the festival.
