November 14: The Change Initiative by Net Consortium has kicked off with the objective to address the challenges faced by businessmen and entrepreneurs during and after disasters.

Three organizations - National Disaster Risk Reduction Center (NDRC), EMERGE, and Tangent Waves have come together to build resilient and inclusive businesses under this initiative.

As part of the programme, an online discussion entitled The Bamboo Series was held on November 10.

According to the organisers, the event was held to discuss, debate, and deliver solutions to build resilient and inclusive businesses.

“The Bamboo Series hopes to mainstream the Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) conversation about the private sector, which is usually ignored when policies and actions are made,” reads a statement  issued by the organisers.

Participants of the event  agreed to collaborate with each other to take this discussion forward.

The next event in the series will be held on November 22 on the topic ‘Are businesses prepared for disasters?’
