Nationwide Strike has General Effect

November 16: The countrywide general shutdown called by the Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand is causing a general effect in daily life. The public is facing inconvenience to commute as less number of public vehicles are seen operating today (November 16) compared to normal days.
The strike has also had general impact on the industrial sector and businesses.
Meanwhile, 86 people forcibly enforcing the shutdown have been taken under control from various places of the country, spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Phanindra Mani Pokharel, said.
Although the public vehicles are operating in less numbers, the movement of private and government vehicles have not been affected.
The Netra Bikram Chand-led group claimed that the general strike has been enforced to press the government to withdraw the hike in the price of petroleum products.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu informed that six persons enforcing the shutdown have been taken under control in Kathmandu.

According to the spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, Ramesh Kumar Basnet, vehicles are operating normally and the life is also normal at present.     -- RSS
