Over 1000 Business Firms Fined for Violating Code of Conduct

July 22: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has taken action against over 1,000 firms and companies for violating the business code of conduct.    
According to the state-owned national news agency (RSS), the department found 1,035 business firms and companies indulging in inappropriate trade activities during the fiscal year 2020-21.    
The department had conducted a monitoring of 2,947 during last year. Among them, the department suggested general improvements for 1,597 companies while 397 firms were demanded to furnish required documents and sought clarifications.     
As per the department’s data, samples were collected from 37 firms for a laboratory test while the transactions of 38 firms were suspended. Cases have been filed against 19 people and three vehicles have been taken under control.    
The department has collected revenue worth Rs 23.98 million in fines, informed Spokesperson of the Department Shibaraj Shedhai. Similarly, adulterated foodstuff worth Rs 37.38 million was destroyed during the period.
