Agriculture Development Bank Launches Credit Card for Farmers

January 21: Agriculture Development Bank has for the first time launched credit card for farmers in order to make loan easily available for them.

The state-owned bank on Wednesday (January 20) launched the service coinciding with its 54th anniversary by providing credit cards to 15 farmers.

Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel launched the card in addition to a smartphone application ‘Kisan App’ developed especially for farmers.

During the launch, Minister Poudel said that these facilities have been launched to facilitate the farmers technologically.

Spokesperson of Agriculture Development BankHem Lal Poudel confirmed that the bank provided credit cards to 15 customers who have been running agriculture firms in the capital.

According to him, the service will be gradually expanded to Pokhara, Biratnagar and other areas after evaluating the effectiveness of the pilot project launched in Kathmandu.

CEO of the bank Anil Kumar Upadhyay informed that the bank launched the credit card and app to engage farmers in technology-friendly transaction.

Any one involved in farming can get such credit cards but those who have taken loan for agriculture will be given special emphasis.
