July 12: Himalaya Airlines has announced that it would start direct flights to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, from July 22.
The airlines made the announcement with the tagline “Bringing Dhaka closer to Kathmandu”.
According to the flight schedule posted on the website of the airline, it will have three flights a week to and fro Dhaka on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The airline said in a statement that it would operate an Airbus with a capacity of 150 passengers in economy class and eight in premium economy class along the route.
The flight will depart from Kathmandu at 11:10 am and land in Dhaka at 1:10 pm (local time), the airline posted on its website. The return flight will depart from Dhaka at 2:10 pm (local time) and arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 3:20 pm.
“We take pleasure to announce our connectivity to another Asian destination - Dhaka, Bangladesh, shouldering our role in contributing to the promotion of tourism and business amongst neighboring countries. This connectivity will boost business opportunities between Nepal and Bangladesh and shall also serve as a bridge between the Middle East Countries and Bangladesh,” the statement quoted Vijay Shrestha, vice president of the administration at the airlines, as saying.
The airline currently operates flights to Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Doha, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur from Kathmandu.
