June 24: Inspired by the Japanese PechaKucha Night, an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public, a similar event is being held at the Attic in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening, June 25.
Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", the event rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea of 20 images in 20 seconds, the organisers said in a statement.
“It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.”
First devised in Tokyo in February 2003, this event has turned into a massive celebration, with such events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creativity worldwide, according to the organisers.
The PechaKucha Night Kathmandu will begin from 6 pm onward at the Attic, Gyaneshwar.
Presenters including Jamyang Tenzin, Kai Weise, Kanchan Jha, Milan Rai, Naresh Kusi, Pranav Rajouria, Prawin Adhikari, Rojina Shilpakar, Roshan Mishra, Samir Jung Thapa, Samuel Thomas, Suraj Pradhan and Ujala Shrestha will be giving their presentation at the event.
The organisers said that the cover charge for the event is Rs 300.
