NBI Organises Conference on Digitization

May 23: National Banking Institute (NBI) organised the Annual Digitization Conference- Innovation in Banking 2019 in Kathmandu on Wednesday, May 22. 
 
The one-day conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dev Kumar Dhakal, executive director at the Payment Systems Department of Nepal Rastra Bank. 
 
Speaking at the conference, Dhakal said that digitization is the need of the hour for the access to finance in the country. Sanjib Subba, CEO of NBI, in his opening remarks highlighted the importance of digitization in terms of enhancing financial inclusion by creating economic activities with opportunities that shall ultimately impact the GDP of the country as a whole.
 
Arif Khan, chief digital officer of National Payments Corporation of India; Narayan Rao, chief operation officer of Suryoday Small Finance Bank; and Abhishek Ananda, associate partner at MicroSave Consulting (MSC) spoke on various topics related to digitization. 
 
Altogether 130+ participants attended the program representing banks and financial institutions, regulatory bodies, remittance, IT and software companies.
