Home Ministry Directs not to Halt Vehicles Importing Raw Materials

May 20: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the concerned authorities not to halt the vehicles importing raw materials into Nepal. The ministry issued circulars in this regard to the district administration offices of 22 districts including Bara and Parasa directing the authorities not to create unnecessary hassles and obstructions to such vehicles.

The ministerial-level decision states that the government authorities can check the cargo vehicles only upon request from the road and transportation regulatory body.

Earlier, a secretarial-level decision of the ministry had decided to ease the transportation of raw materials along the Birjung- Pathalaiya corridor. Following the decision, the traffic police on duty along the highway had been troubling the vehicles by imposing charges arbitrarily, according to the importers.
