Finance Minister in UK to Solicit Support

February 20: Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has left for London to attend a conference to lay the ground for the Nepal Inevstment Summit scheduled for March 29-30 in Kathmandu.

The Ministry of Finance said in a statement that the finance minister left for the United Kingdom on February 19 in an official visit to solicit support from the British investors to invest in Nepal. He is scheduled to attend a conference to be organised by Nepal’s embassy in London on February 22 to seek support for the investment summit.

During his visit, Minister Khatiwada will meet non-residential Nepalis in the UK. He will also attend programmes organised by the Nepal-Britain Chamber of Commerce.

The February 22 conference to be organised by the Nepali embassy in London will be attended by the Department for International Development (DFID) of UK, Kathmandu-based fund management company One to Watch as well as the Department for International Trade of the UK.

The ministry expects that the visit will help in wooing potential investors of Britain during the Nepal Investment Summit. One representative each from the ministry and the Investment Board are accompanying the minister during the visit.
